Good Beaches in Devon for Surfing and Watersports
If you're planning a holiday in Devon and you're keen on surfing, kitesurfing or windsurfing, you'll want to find some good beaches where you can practise your watersports.
The North Devon coast has the biggest waves, and the North Devon towns of Woolacombe and Croyde have some very popular surfing beaches. If you're more of a beginner, or prefer to avoid the crowds and surf on a more peaceful beach, the nearby beach at Saunton has gentle, crumbly, rolling waves that are excellent for beginners or longboarders. And if you fancy mixing with other surfers at the end of the day, the Thatch in nearby Croyde is a popular surfing pub.
Although Exmouth in East Devon does not have the big waves of the North Devon coast, it is well known among windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts for its exhilarating wind against tide conditions. It is a popular destination for many watersports, such as sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, powerboating and kitesurfing.
