Get a bargain on your family holiday this year. Devon holiday parks offer great facilities, entertainment and convenient locations at bargain prices.

But by knowing where to look, you can get special offers and discounts on top of the holiday park prices.

1) Check the New Year papers for cut-price holiday offers

Look out for headlines promoting £10 and £20 holidays in the New Year papers. Many of the regional and nationwide British papers publish discount holiday offers in the New Year, which are often cut price bargain breaks at selected holiday parks throughout the UK.

So keep an eye on the papers after Christmas and in the first couple of weeks of January.

You’ll need to collect a series of tokens to send in with your preferred choices of date and location, and the sooner you can start the better, because popular choices will soon be filled up.

2) Look out for competitions on holiday park websites

Some holiday park websites have competitions where you can win a free holiday in exchange for signing up for a brochure and answering some questions.

It may be a long shot, but what is there to lose? After all, you don’t win if you don’t enter.

3) Check for discount codes on travel websites.

Discount codes are often temporary, so new codes could appear at any time. They may offer discounts on a specific holiday park they are promoting, longer or shorter holidays, or breaks at a particular time of year.

You may find you get a great deal on a mini-break, or a resort you might not have looked at before. So why not give it a try – you could be pleasantly surprised.

4) Choose off-season dates for your holiday

If your children aren’t school-age yet, you can save a lot of money by avoiding the school holidays and going on holiday in the off-peak season.

Going a week or two on either side of the school holidays doesn’t make that much difference to the weather, but when prices can be hundreds of pounds lower, it can save a lot on your budget.

So if you have younger children, make the most of it while you can.

5) Look for Private Caravan Rentals

Many caravan parks also sell static caravans, which the owners will often rent out when they aren’t using them, at cheaper prices than the caravans owned by the holiday park.

Listings for these privately owned caravans can often be found in classified advert listings or auction websites.

If your timing is lucky with the auction listings, or you find a late deal due to cancellation, you can even get a last minute bargain on private caravan rentals.

6) Camp in your own tent or campervan

Some holiday parks allow visitors to stay in their own campervans or camp in tents instead of renting a static caravan.

So if you do have your own tent or campervan, you can bring your own accommodation and save on your holiday budget.

It may be a bit more work when you’re arriving and packing up, but once you’ve got your things set up, you’ll be able to have just as much fun using the holiday park’s facilities, beaches, shops and entertainment.
